VERY Privacy Notice for California Residents

This Privacy Notice for California Residents supplements the information contained in The Very Good Food Company Inc. (“VERY”)'s US Privacy Notice and applies solely to all visitors, users, and others who reside in the State of California ("consumers" or "you"). Any terms defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (“CCPA”) have the same meaning when used in this California Notice. 

Information We Collect

Within the last twelve (12) months, VERY has collected the following categories of consumer personal information from the following sources and disclosed for a business purpose to the following third parties:

Personal information does not include:

  • Publicly available information from government records.
  • Deidentified or aggregated consumer information.
  • Information excluded from the CCPA's scope.

Use of Personal Information

We may use or disclose the personal information we collect for one or more of the following business purposes: 

  • create and secure your registered user account;
  • identify you as a registered user in our system;
  • provide, personalize and improve our Site, Products and Services;
  • offer you personalized product and service offerings, such as targeted offers and ads through our Site, third party sites and via email or text-message (where you have consented to receive such messages as required by applicable law);
  • communicate with you about our Site, Products and Services;
  • help maintain the security and integrity of our Site, Products, Services, databases and other technology assets;
  • investigate security breaches, for fraud prevention measures or to investigate potential fraud, or cooperate with government authorities pursuant to a legal matter;
  • fulfill your requests and provide you with support;
  • process transactions and payments and prevent fraud;
  • send newsletters, surveys, offers and promotional materials related to our Site, Products and Services and for our other marketing purposes;
  • monitor traffic on our Site;
  • solicit your feedback;
  • determine the future direction of our Site, including technical upgrades;
  • protect, investigate and prevent potentially fraudulent, unauthorized or illegal activities;
  • protect our rights and the rights of other registered users;
  • aggregate and anonymize the personal information; 
  • evaluate or conduct a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, or other sale or transfer of some or all of our assets, in which Personal Information held by VERY is among the assets transferred;
  • other uses described in this Notice or in notices we provide to you or as authorized by you;
  • to respond to law enforcement requests and as required by applicable law, court order, or governmental regulations; and
  • as described to you when collecting your personal information or as otherwise set forth in the CCPA.

VERY will not collect additional categories of personal information or use the personal information we collected for materially different, unrelated, or incompatible purposes without providing you notice.

Sharing Personal Information

VERY may disclose your personal information to a third party for a business purpose. When we disclose personal information for a business purpose, we enter a contract that describes the purpose and requires the recipient to both keep that personal information confidential and not use it for any purpose except performing the contract.

In the preceding twelve (12) months, VERY has not sold personal information.

Access to Specific Information and Data Portability Rights

Consumers have the right to request that VERY disclose certain information to you about our collection and use of your personal information over the past 12 months. Once we receive and confirm your verifiable consumer request (see Exercising Rights below), we will disclose to you:

  • The categories of personal information we collected about you.
  • The categories of sources for the personal information we collected about you.
  • Our business or commercial purpose for collecting or selling that personal information.
  • The categories of third parties with whom we share that personal information.
  • The specific pieces of personal information we collected about you (also called a data portability request).
  • confirmation we have not sold your personal information.
  • If we disclosed your personal information for a business purpose, a list disclosing disclosures for a business purpose, identifying the personal information categories that each category of recipient obtained. 

Deletion Request Rights 

Consumers have the right to request that VERY delete any of your personal information that we collected from you and retained, subject to certain exceptions. Once we receive and confirm your verifiable consumer request (see Exercising Rights below), we will delete (and direct our service providers to delete) your personal information from our records, unless an exception applies.

To exercise the access, data portability, and deletion rights described above, please submit a verifiable consumer request to us by either:

We cannot respond or provide you with personal information if we cannot verify your identity and authority to make the request and confirm that the personal information relates to you. 

You may only make a verifiable consumer request for access or data portability twice within a 12-month period. The verifiable consumer request must:

  • Provide sufficient information that allows us to reasonably verify you are the person about whom we collected personal information or an authorized representative.
  • Describe your request with sufficient detail that allows us to properly understand, evaluate, and respond to it.

We will only use personal information provided in a verifiable consumer request to verify the requestor's identity or authority to make the request. 


We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights. 


Notice of Financial Incentives


From time to time we may offer financial incentives such as discounts for consumers who sign up to receive our marketing emails. When you participate in a financial incentive, we collect personal information from you, such as identifiers (like your name and email address) and commercial information (like your purchase history). You can opt into a financial incentive by following the sign-up or participation instructions provided, and you have the ability to opt-out of the financial incentive, or our subsequent use of your personal information in connection with a financial incentive, at any time by contacting us at In some cases, we may provide additional terms and conditions for a financial incentive, which we will present to you before you opt into the financial incentive. The value of your personal information is reasonably related to the value of the offer or discount presented to you. A description of the value and method we used to calculate the value of personal information is made available before you opt into a financial incentive.
