GENERAL

Do your products taste like meat?

Our mission isn't to make products that taste exactly like meat - we use savoury, herby flavours that give a hearty, delicious taste many are familiar with. Those who choose to eat plant-based can then still enjoy traditional dishes that rely on those flavours for the full experience.

Do you have a sample pack?

You can buy all our products individually or select one of our pre-set Butcher Bundles - click on the SHOP in the navigation bar to see the lineup of products we offer.

When will a product be back in stock?

Due to high demand some of our plant-based favourites are not currently available. Our Bean Butcher's are working hard to get these products back in stock however we do not have a specific date.

We recommend checking in with our Customer Experience team at hello@verygoodfood.com or following our social media for updates!

Can I buy your products locally?

We are currently expanding in retails stores throughout Canada and the US! You can find a full list of our retailers with the store locator under the Find Us Tab

How does the cost of plant-based meat compare to "real" meat?

While the price of conventional animal based protein is often cheaper than that of their plant-based alternatives, this is rapidly changing in many parts of the world with agricultural developments, labor issues, and supply chain disruptions being the main drivers of rising prices of animal based proteins.

This is all while R&D initiatives across the plant based meat industry (especially in our own Bean Butcheries) are actively working to close the price gap. Some reasearch has shown that a complete price parity between plant based and animal based protein sources could be acheived within the next few years. Here's to the vegeconomy!

We are constantly working to innovate new, high quality products at the lowest cost possible to our customers. Stay tuned on social media for new product launches coming up!

SHIPPING

Where do you ship?

Currently, we have websites that can ship Very Good Butchers products to parts of Canada, the USA.

For more details on shipping, see our Shipping Information.

Also, to ensure you are shopping from the correct store, please confirm that the flag in the upper right corner of the page matches that of the country you are ordering Very Good products to.

I live in a remote location in the US! Can you still ship to me?

As long as you are able to receive mail from UPS, and are located on the East Coast of the US, we should be able to ship to you without any problems!

Please reach out to us at hello@verygoodfood.com if a specific courier is ideal as shipping costs may be subject to change.

When will my order ship?

Our order processing time is 1-2 weeks from time of purchase. Once your order has been processed, you’ll receive an email with a tracking and then shipping can take up to an additional week.

How long will it take for my order to arrive?

All orders should arrive within 2-3 days from the time they leave our facilities. Orders are typically shipped on Monday's, Tuesday's and Wednesday's each week.

How is my online order shipped and/or kept cold?

Prior to shipment, orders are stored in our deep freezer to keep all product as cold as possible. Frozen products are packed with non-toxic gel ice packs and top-of-the-line cooling inserts to stay cold during transit.

Your package may arrive unfrozen (and this is okay as long as the items are at cool temperatures, the vacuum sealing is still intact and shows no signs of ballooning). We’ve done extensive shelf testing which showed our products are nearly shelf stable and very low risk.

What if my product arrives unfrozen?

If the products arrive after 7 days in transit, with the vacuum seal compromised, and/or if they are above room temperature then we would not consider the products safe to consume. If your products arrived in 7 or less days from the shipping date, are at or below room temperature, and the packaging is not showing any sign of ballooning or compromise of the vacuum seals, then the products are safe to eat.

If your products fall into the former category, or if you have any concerns as to the state of the product upon delivery, please email our customer support team at hello@verygoodfood.com so that we can explore a resolution.

Do you ship to PO boxes?

No

What shipping carriers do you use?

We currently ship our Very Good online orders using UPS.

Our original products are good in the fridge (unopened) for 3-4 weeks. Our Butcher's Select products are good in the fridge for 7-10 days from the time they are fully thawed.

Once opened, they will last up to a few days, as we do not use any preservatives.

ENVIRONMENTAL

How do I recycle my Very Good packaging?

For the individual plastic packaging on the product, you can clean, peel off the sticker if needed, and put in the soft plastic recycling.

The packaging that keeps your product cold is The Green Cell Foam. It is used to insulate the boxes is the most environmentally sustainable and functional packaging material available. Made from US-grown corn, Green Cell Foam is certified compostable in backyard and industrial facilities and can even be dissolved in a sink for safe and easy disposal. This unique material combines exceptional cushioning and thermal insulating protection, while protecting the planet.

Ways to Recycle The Green Cell Foam

  1. Cut the film on the Green Cell Plus. Cut open the Green Cell Plus (GC+) and pull out the foam panels. Recycle the film. Once the foam and film are separated, you’re able to dispose of GCF as you choose!
  2. Compost. Green Cell Foam is compostable in any residential or commercial compost facility. Their bio-based packaging foam will decompose in 60 days or less when in a moist soil environment.
  3. Dissolve in water. Green Cell Foam dissolves in water— put small pieces in the sink and watch it "melt" safely down the drain; it even decomposes in seawater and freshwater!
  4. Burn. Green Cell Foam burns cleanly and safely in fireplaces, fire-pits and power plants— works great to start your barbecue!

We hope this information is helpful! We are currently exploring more low-impact packaging options for future use.

Do you plan on implementing low-impact packing?

One of our main focuses is sustainability. The Bean Butchers are working on lower impact packaging for all of our plant-based (and taste-based) products.

We are hoping to attain a Plastic Neutral Certification by later this year. More updates to come!
